MAD MONDAY AT THE COMICS LOUNGE

Mad Monday is a term commonly used to refer to the traditional end-of-season celebrations. Doug Chappel & John Burgos do this every week with their band of merry comedians.

DOUG CHAPPEL - has been a professional comedian for over 10 years and is an energetic performer with hilarious facial expressions, astute observation and charm. He has toured internationally, been the headline act in every major comedy club in Australia, while also headlining Comedy Clubs all over the UK, Ireland, Scotland and performed in the exclusive Jongleurs Comedy Club London and The World Famous London Comedy Store.

 

JOHN BURGOS - Known for his role as The Annoying Devil on Balls of Steel Australia, John is an established and experienced comic performer, Stand Up comedian and Emcee on the Australian comedy circuit.

Mikey Robins

Mikey spent seven years behind the microphone as host of Triple J’s National breakfast show  before becoming a team leader and audience favourite on the iconic Good News Weekend its various franchises.

On radio, Mikey’s also featured on prime time shifts for Triple M and Vega.

He continues to be a regular guest on several TV and radio shows.

Mikey has co-authored two books and been a columnist for The Daily Telegraph and GQ and has written for several publications including Men’s Style and Selector magazine.

 

Mikey has recently added stand up comedy to his long list of achievements and has performed at the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy festivals. In 2011 Mikey went to Afghanistan to entertain the troops.

Tahir

Tahir is one of Australia’s busiest comedians. He has been a feature in all comedy venues around the country and had numerous television appearances as credits. Tahir was named Comedian of the Year and has been Logie nominated. He has worked with the who’s who of the industry and has been booked for countless private and corporate functions. He is a regular at major Comedy Festivals, on panel shows, television debates and even Celebrity Theatresports!

 

 

Tahir has been involved in some of the most successful stage and screen productions. Recently in 2004 he appeared in the fourth series of PIZZA on SBS as the much loved and hilarious character “HABIB”. He was also an integral member of the team in the hit movies “FAT PIZZA”, "HOUSOS VS AUTHORITY", "FAT PIZZA VS HOUSOS and other cult hit franchises such as "SWIFT AND SHIFT COURIERS" and "HOUSOS".

Pommy Johnson Live

Pommy Johnson is a live-wire stand-up comedian who has toured extensively.

His act is versatile and well suited to a wide cross section of audiences and situations.

In 1993 he worked the comedy circuit in London and still embarks on regular tours all over Australia performing at a wide range of venues including clubs, pubs, ski resorts, campuses and corporate events.

 

He has also become a regular on Spicks & Specks, as well as appearing on Mick Molloys The Nation, Rove [live], The Comedy Channels Stand Up Australia and Headliners, 9AM with David & Kim and ABC1s Sunday Arts.

Danny McGinlay - Bulldogs Bannerman Live!

In 2014, Danny McGinlay [Utopia, The Project, The Footy Show] sent a tweet about how he thought the Western Bulldogs banner was rubbish. This triggered a series of events which ended a 62 year Premiership drought. 

Like a Melbourne version The Mighty Ducks except true, and with more spelling errors. 

McGinlay has performed stand up on four continents, gigged for Royalty, Prime Ministers and now the MCG on Grand Final Day.

Bob Franklin will host a showcase of the best International & Local comedians in town for The Melbourne Comedy Festival.

On Australian television, Franklin was both writer and performer on Jimeoin, Shaun Micallefs World Around Him & The Mick Molloy Show.

Franklin made several appearances on Thank God Youre Here and Talking ‘bout Your Generation; and has featured in sitcoms such as The Librarians, Upper MiddleBogan and Please Like Me (2013).

 

Franklin has appeared in several Australian films, including The Craic, You Cant Stop The Murders, Bad Eggs & The Extra.
